Professional Bio
With an English degree from Roanoke College, Jonathan started out as a copywriter. Working at a small company side-by-side with two developers, he was inspired to do some coding of his own. He ended up turning a two-hour copywriting assignment into a two-minute computer-automated process. That was just the beginning. He continued to teach himself coding, and eventually became the university-wide webmaster at VCU. Again, driven to make the inefficient efficient, he converted 500+ custom, homegrown web apps to Symfony for easier maintenance and to ensure optimal performance. Jonathan joined the Foster Made team on April 1, 2015. (Which, he likes to point out, is April Fool’s Day!)
“I love automating things – the thrill of pressing a button, walking away, and having it work flawlessly. I also like scaling in terms of performance – seeing how much data you can push through an application and have everything operate just as it should. There’s a lot of satisfaction in that.”
