New team member interview and spotlight

Share

It's my honor interview and introduce our newest team member and senior developer, Megan O'Sullivan!

Q: What are you most looking forward to in working at Foster Made?

A: Getting to be a part of so many diverse projects, helping clients, learning new skills, working alongside a great group of people!

Q: What's the strangest food you've ever tried and actually enjoyed?

A: I grew up eating blood sausage (known as black pudding) - that might be considered strange if you think about it! I’ve also tried crickets (if I recall correctly, they were crickets!) in chili powder. They were okay!

Q: If you could teleport anywhere right now, where would you go and why?

A: Right now where I live we are going through a cold snap and it’s currently 19F, so I would love to teleport to Ko Samui off the east coast of Thailand and relax on a beach. I went to Ko Samui on vacation shortly after finishing my final exams for my degree. It is a beautiful place.

Q: Tell us the story about how you got into web development.

A: When studying for my BSc in Computer Science, the web development parts were always my favorite and the most enjoyable. I knew I wanted to pursue that type of work once I graduated. I’ve mainly focused on web development with PHP.

Q: What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

A: Spending time with my fiance and our cat, catching up with friends, talking to my family in Ireland on FaceTime, reading, cozy video games.

Q: If your life had a soundtrack, what three songs would be on it?

  • …Baby One More Time by Britney Spears (possibly one of the first CDs I ever bought?? Classic)

  • Soul Meets Body by Death Cab For Cutie (listened to them a lot in my teens)

  • Ready to Start by Arcade Fire (or any song from The Suburbs album - always takes me back to 2010!)

Q: What's the most interesting place you've ever visited?

A: Hiroshima in Japan. Hadn’t planned to go there (sometimes the best places are discovered that way) but spent a night there during a trip to Japan in 2014. I’m really glad we decided to go there and have the opportunity to see a lot of history in person.

Q: If you could live in any fictional universe, which one would it be and why?

A: One of my favorite films is Blade Runner. I'd love to spend time in that universe, maybe be a detective and experience the gritty, noir vibes of the city.

Q: If you had to survive a zombie apocalypse, what three items would you grab first?

A: Hand sanitizer, a machete and a good pair of boots!

Q: I’ve heard you’re an avid reader! What are your top 3 favorite books you’ve read lately?

A: Yes, last year I committed to read 16 books and ended up reading 55 books! My top 3 favorites were The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera, and Sisters by Daisy Johnson.
