What Our Team Provided

  • Search & Discovery
  • Ecommerce

How it started

A new website for Apex Learning.

In 2021, Edmentum acquired Apex Learning to add to its already impressive array of eLearning products and services. Foster Made was brought on board to completely reimagine, redesign, and rebuild to eliminate technical debt and create the best possible user experience.

Discovery & Design

A content-first approach for a diverse audience.

One of the primary goals in redesigning the site was to organize content for a more intuitive end-to-end experience. To do that, Foster Made had to understand the needs and pain points of ALVS’s different audiences – everyone from students with disabilities to military families moving abroad. Navigation and pages were designed to make it very easy for visitors to search courses and find answers to their most pressing questions.

State-of-the-art ecommerce.

We built a new B2C ecommerce experience for ALVS that seamlessly connects business systems and digital platforms, including marketing automation, analytics, and payment processing. We also expanded the site’s capabilities to meet customer needs, allowing them to view past purchases, access cancel and refund options, take advantage of coupons and promos, as well as purchase courses for more than one child at a time. Powered by Craft Commerce, the new ecommerce system harmoniously integrates with the website’s content management system.

Content Management System

Intuitive, seamless publishing.

When it came to Apex’s CMS, the request was clear – create a simple, efficient publishing experience that accommodates role-based permissions and completely eliminates the need for custom HTML or styles. To meet that request, we leveraged Craft CMS to create an intuitive, modular content builder that gives the marketing team the freedom and independence to make edits – no developer required.

Search & Discovery

A powerful, effective search experience.

Delivering a smart, fast and reliable search experience was crucial to the information wayfinding and content findability of the Apex site. We designed an intuitive search solution tailored for students, parents and teachers to easily find and discover content — from available courses and programs to customized solutions and resources. Powered by Algolia, the underlying technology allowed us to build a cutting-edge search experience that uses AI to combine keyword and semantic search queries and deliver personalized search results.

The End Result

Performance and design without compromise.

The new ALVS site is easy to manage and grow over time, more responsive, and has a dramatically improved user experience. Factors like an intuitive navigation, powerful search capabilities, and an easy checkout process are significant differentiators that make the ALVS website stand out in the online school marketplace.
